Kaduna Govt Recruits 1,800 Health Workers

The Kaduna government has recruited 1,800 health personnel to enhance quality healthcare service delivery in the state.

Bello Yusuf-Jamo, executive secretary, State Primary Healthcare Board, said this during the presentation of the probationary appointment letters to the recruited health personnel on Monday in Kaduna.

He said the appointment letters were issued after the completion of rigorous oral and written examinations as well as screening exercises to ensure transparency and merit in the recruitment process.

Mr Yusuf-Jamo said the list of successful candidates has been displayed at the board headquarters to enable the beneficiaries to verify their names and collect their offer letters.

The secretary said the recruitment exercise was sequel to the directive by Governor Uba Sani, who approved the annual engagement of 1,800 health workers throughout his two terms in office as part of efforts to transform the primary healthcare sector and address workforce gaps.

The initiative, he said, also complemented the state government’s revitalisation and provision of improved tools and infrastructure to over 70 per cent of the 1,119 primary healthcare facilities across the state.

Mr Yusuf-Jamo said the screening exercise was conducted fairly to ensure that no qualified candidate was denied the opportunity.

“The board adhered strictly to transparency, diligence, competence, merit and experience throughout the recruitment process; thorough checks were necessary to uphold credibility.

“The recruitment slots were evenly distributed across the three senatorial districts, with all the 23 local government areas receiving their fair share,” he said.

Mr Yusuf-Jamoh said plans were underway to recruit another batch of 1,800 health workers in the second phase of the exercise.

He highlighted that annual recruitment would continue to adequately address the manpower deficit in the primary healthcare sector.

While congratulating the newly employed personnel, Mr Yusuf-Jamo urged them to be committed, diligent and dedicated to their duties.
