Concerned residents of Rano town in Kano State have raised the alarm over the presence of armed hoodlums at the Emir’s palace, sparking fears for their safety. In a letter to the state Police Commissioner, residents expressed concern over the unknown motives of the armed youths, who have been camped at the palace since Sunday.
According to the letter, “The motives of these arms-carrying machinery remain unknown…their intrusion is generally considered a threat to the security of lives and property.”
The residents, known for their peaceful nature, have been disrupted by the recent emirate tussle in Kano State, which has brought tension and discontent. The letter stated, “The people exercised restraint because they believe in the judiciary since the Emirates case was before a competent court of justice.”
The presence of armed hoodlums at the Emir’s palace has raised concerns about the disrespect for the ban on non-state security actors and the potential disruption of peace in the area. The residents are calling for increased security measures to ensure their safety.
“We are peaceful people who go about our businesses without creating trouble. We urge the authorities to take necessary steps to ensure our security,” the letter read.
The situation is being monitored, and investigations are underway to determine the motives behind the armed hoodlums’ presence at the Emir’s palace.
