Kano Shuts Two Health Institutions Over Regulatory Violations

Kano State Government has ordered the closure of two privately owned health training institutions in Nasarawa Local Government Area for operating outside approved regulatory guidelines.

‎

‎The affected schools are IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology, located in Dakata Kawaji, and Life Line College of Health Science and Technology, situated in the Dakata Industrial Area along Bela Road.

‎Announcing the development on Tuesday, the Kano State Ministry of Health said the decision followed an extensive inspection that revealed serious violations of operational and educational requirements.

‎

‎In a statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Nabilusi Abubakar K/Na’isa, authorities said both institutions lacked official approval from the ministry and had not secured accreditation from the relevant professional and regulatory agencies responsible for health training in Nigeria.

‎

‎According to the ministry, investigations uncovered several shortcomings, including inadequate infrastructure, poor learning facilities, a shortage of qualified instructors, and failure to meet the minimum standards expected of health training institutions.

‎

‎Officials also accused the schools of disregarding established regulations, professional ethics, and mandatory guidelines designed to ensure the proper training of healthcare personnel.

‎

‎The ministry stressed that the action was necessary to safeguard students and maintain the integrity of healthcare education in the state.

‎

‎It reiterated that the training of healthcare professionals must be conducted only in institutions that satisfy all approved regulatory and academic requirements.

‎

‎The government further warned proprietors of similar institutions to comply fully with existing laws and operational standards or risk facing sanctions.

‎

‎According to the ministry, the closure of non-compliant schools forms part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of healthcare education, protect students from substandard training, and strengthen healthcare service delivery across Kano State.
