The Katsina State government has received about 15 fully equipped conventional ambulances procured to strengthen emergency response services across the state.
The chief of staff to Governor Dikko Radda, Abdulkadir Mamma-Nasir, disclosed this on Monday in Katsina while witnessing the offloading of the vehicles.
Mr Mamma-Nasir described the initiative as a fulfillment of Mr Radda’s promise to improve road infrastructure and safety across the state.
He noted that the completion of road networks and ongoing repairs have increased the need for effective speed control measures to reduce road accidents.
According to him, the governor’s commitment to providing quality road infrastructure is a promise fulfilled, aimed at enhancing residents’ overall quality of life.
He explained that the ambulances, to be stationed along major highways, are intended to provide prompt medical assistance to accident victims.
Mr Mamma-Nasir assured that the governor has put plans in place to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles through the establishment of a committee to manage the ambulance network.
According to him, the committee will comprise representatives from road maintenance agencies, accident prevention units, road safety authorities, the Ministry of Health, and the local government councils.
