King Charles Congratulates U.S. on 250th Independence Anniversary, Hails “Special Relationship”

King Charles III has extended his congratulations to President Donald Trump and the people of the United States as they mark 250 years of independence.

‎

‎In a message issued on Saturday, the British monarch commended the enduring relationship between both nations, noting how it had evolved despite a history that once placed them on opposing sides.

‎

‎“This year marks a truly historic milestone and a moment of great celebration for Americans everywhere,” Charles said, describing the occasion as one that invites reflection on “the remarkable journey of the United States over the past two and a half centuries, and to honour all that has been achieved since 1776.”

‎

‎The United States is commemorating 250 years since the 13 colonies declared independence from Britain, a move that sparked the Revolutionary War and eventually led to Britain recognising American sovereignty in 1783.

‎

‎From former rivals, both countries later developed what is widely referred to as a “special relationship.”

‎

‎King Charles described this bond as one that has undergone “extraordinary evolution, from overcoming conflict to forging one of the closest and most productive alliances the world has seen,” adding that both nations continue to face “the challenges of today, and the opportunities of tomorrow” together.

‎

‎He also highlighted shared priorities such as environmental protection, an issue central to his long-standing advocacy.

‎

‎In April, Charles and Queen Camilla undertook a multi-day state visit to the United States, where they were hosted by President Trump at the White House. The visit came amid strained diplomatic moments linked to global tensions, including the war involving Iran, requiring careful diplomatic engagement from the monarch.

‎

‎Following the visit, Trump spoke positively about King Charles, further reflecting the ongoing cordial tone between both leaders.
