Kogi State Deputy Governor Joel Salifu has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, stating that his focus remains on supporting the governor’s agenda rather than pursuing personal ambitions.
Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN) at his office in Lokoja, Salifu emphasized the importance of prioritizing service over self-interest. He warned against the dangers of excessive ambition, which he said could lead to a loss of focus fueled by greed and overzealousness.
Salifu commended Governor Ododo’s accomplishments in bolstering security, advancing infrastructure projects, and implementing civil service reforms under the Advance New Direction Agenda. Among these achievements, he noted efforts to tackle insecurity in Omala Local Government Area, the introduction of a ₦72,500 minimum wage, and periodic distribution of palliatives to ease the economic burden on residents.
“The governor’s leadership has transformed many areas of governance, and my duty is to ensure that this progress continues,” Salifu said.
The General Overseer of CEFN, Rev. Dr. Malachi O. Ogakwo, praised the administration for navigating economic challenges while making strides in state development. He pledged the church’s continued support for initiatives promoting peace, education, agricultural growth, and poverty reduction.
Salifu called on CEFN leaders to discourage tribal politics and encourage unity among citizens, urging them to rally behind Governor Ododo’s efforts to improve the lives of the people.
“We need to focus on collective progress and support the leadership that is committed to serving the public good,” he added.
Kogi State remains focused on its development agenda amidst challenging economic conditions, with calls for unity and collaboration echoing across its leadership.
