Former Kogi governorship candidate, Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, has welcomed the reported arrests in connection with the killing of late Alhaji Yunusa Onu Ishaq, the APC Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area.

‎In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page on September 28, 2026, Ajaka commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies involved in the investigation.

‎”I welcome the reported arrests in connection with the killing of late Alhaji Yunusa Onu Ishaq the APC Chairman of Dekina LGA. I commend the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies involved in the investigation,” he said.

‎He urged security agencies to establish the full facts of the murder and go after other suspects still at large.
‎
‎”I urge them to establish the full facts, pursue those still at large, and intensify operations against the criminals who have brought fear to communities along the Ejule Road, the Dekina axis, and other parts of Kogi East,” Ajaka stated.
‎
‎He called on residents with credible information on kidnappings and violent crimes in the area to assist the police.
‎
‎”Anyone with credible information that could help the police arrest those responsible for kidnappings and other violent crimes, or stop their activities, should contact the Kogi State Commissioner of Police. You may also send me a direct text message, or through my verified social media platforms and I will forward it to the police,” he said.

‎Ajaka announced a N5 million reward for information that leads to further arrests.
‎
‎”I am offering a ₦5 million reward to anyone who provides credible information that helps the police arrest other criminal elements involved in these crimes or dismantle their networks. The reward will be paid once the police verify the information and confirm that it has produced results,” he said.

‎”This is my little way of encouraging people with vital information to support the work of our security agencies. I will communicate this commitment to the Commissioner of Police and other security chiefs in Kogi State,” he added.

‎He stressed the need for collective action to secure communities in Kogi East.
‎
‎”We are all stakeholders in the safety of our communities and must work together so our people can live, work, and travel without fear,” Ajaka said.
