Lokoja—Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has unveiled a new policy to grant automatic employment to the top graduates of tertiary institutions in the state, underscoring his administration’s commitment to educational development.
The announcement was made on Friday by the governor’s deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, during the disbursement of over ₦316 million in bursary allowances and scholarships to students in Lokoja.
The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on students and their families while encouraging academic excellence and fostering youth contributions to the state’s development.
Under the program, 8,750 students will receive ₦30,000 each in bursary allowances, while law school students will benefit from a more substantial allowance of ₦300,000 each.
“We will continue to prioritize the welfare of our students while working closely with student union bodies,” Governor Ododo said.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his educational initiatives, particularly the Student Loan Initiative, which he described as instrumental in supporting students nationwide.
The governor urged students to remain dedicated to their studies, assuring them that his administration is committed to empowering the youth as part of a broader effort to drive progress in Kogi State.
