The Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) has expressed deep disappointment at Prince Shuaibu Audu’s decision to lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State.
In a letter to Prince Audu, FORIJA Secretary General Omonu YG Nelson said that the decision is a betrayal of his father, Prince Audu Abubakar’s legacy and the goodwill that he earned for the family.
Nelson said that Governor Yahaya Bello has been a disastrous leader for Kogi State, presiding over a corrupt, incompetent, and repressive government. He has failed to deliver on any of Prince Audu Abubakar’s campaign promises and has plunged the state into debt.
Nelson also said that the Igala people have suffered greatly under Bello’s rule, with the state’s economy in shambles and many Kogites struggling to make ends meet. He added that there is no security and the state is plagued by man-made violence and crime.
FORIJA urged Prince Audu to reconsider his decision and withdraw his support for Bello’s proxy candidate, Usman Ahmed Ododo. The group also urged him to use his platform to speak out against the injustice and oppression that is taking place in Kogi State.
“The people of Kogi State deserve better than Bello’s right hand man (Ododo),” Nelson said. “They deserve a leader who is honest, competent, and committed to their well-being. We urge you to do the right thing and support a candidate who will truly represent the interests of the Igala people
