By Ojima-Ojo Abubakar
LOKOJA— The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, has praised Governor Usman Ododo’s administration for its dedication to a stable academic calendar and transformative projects aimed at bolstering the state’s education sector.

Speaking during the disbursement of over ₦316 million in bursary allowances and scholarship support to students in Lokoja on Friday, Prof. Ogbo commended the government’s commitment to maintaining stability in public institutions, describing it as a continuation of the legacies of former Governor Yahaya Bello.

“The current administration is not just maintaining a stable academic calendar but also embarking on ambitious projects that will significantly enhance the education sector,” Ogbo said.

He appealed to the state government to extend scholarships to postgraduate students, citing Kano and Akwa Ibom as examples of states making significant strides in this area.

“Once students are educated, they will contribute significantly to the state’s development, elevating it beyond division and parochial interests to a global level,” he added.

Similarly, secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, also commended the administration’s prioritization of education.

She said that education is a powerful tool for empowerment, noting that it played a pivotal role in her own journey to public service.

“Through scholarships, the government is investing in the future of our youth. I urge students to take their academics seriously, achieve good grades, and positively impact their families and the state,” Ayoade stated.

On his part, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, highlighted Governor Ododo’s unwavering support for education.

He disclosed that the board collaborated with Remita to ensure the electronic and transparent disbursement of funds.

Raji further announced plans to offer scholarships to academically outstanding students for studies abroad, positioning the state as a hub for global educational excellence.
