The Kogi State Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, has described the death of the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, as a calamity for the people of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Ajaka said that the state had lost a brave, courageous, honest, forthright, and God-fearing leader who had tirelessly worked for the unity of the people.
“Our father is leaving at a time the state desperately needs his unifying guidance and wisdom to keep strengthening us as one indivisible people,” Ajaka said.
He recalled the late monarch’s declaration that every Kogite was his child and that he would not be intimidated by anyone to reject his own children.
“This is the kind of leadership that Kogi State needs at this time,” Ajaka said. “We will miss the Ohinoyi greatly, but we will continue to uphold his legacy of peace, unity, and progress.”
Ajaka also suspended all campaign activities scheduled for Sunday, October 29, 2023, including a World Press Conference scheduled for 2:00pm, to mourn the death of the Ohinoyi. He also directed that SDP flags at the party campaign offices across the state fly at half mast throughout the week in honour of the late Monarch.
The death of the Ohinoyi of Ebira Land is a major loss for the people of Kogi State. He was a respected leader who was known for his wisdom, courage, and commitment to the unity of the state. His death will create a void that will be difficult to fill.
