Lafarge Africa Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting local cement production through expansion projects at its Sagamu plant in Ogun and Ashaka plant in Gombe.
The company disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos by its company secretary, Adewunmi Alode.
Mr Alode said the expansions would raise annual capacity to 3.5 million metric tonnes at Sagamu and two million metric tonnes at Ashaka.
He noted that both facilities would operate dry-process plants with modern kilns, mills and roller presses, designed to improve energy efficiency and operational performance.
According to him, the projects will enhance product availability and strengthen the company’s ability to serve customers efficiently across key Nigerian markets.
Mr Alode added that the expansions reflected Huaxin Building Materials Group’s commitment to Nigeria’s infrastructure, following its 83.81 per cent acquisition of Lafarge Africa in 2024.
The company’s CEO, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, said the projects showed confidence in Nigeria’s long-term economic growth.
“The expansion of our plants is a strategic investment that reinforces Lafarge Africa’s role in supporting national development,” Mr Alade-Akinyemi said.
He said the projects would improve supply chains, integrate modern technologies, support sustainability, and create jobs while strengthening engagement with host communities.
