Lawmaker Lauds Edo Govt Grassroots Infrastructure Progress

By Deborah Coker

Mr Anamero Dekeri (APC-Edo) representing Etsako Federal Constituency, has commended the Edo Government for its commitment to grassroots infrastructural development

This is contained in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday, by Mr Benjamin Atu, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the lawmaker.

Dekeri lauded the administration of Gov. Monday Okpebholo, for its recent distribution of heavy duty haulage and construction vehicles to all local governments across the state.

He described the action as a strategic investment in grassroots infrastructure delivery.

He, consequently, tasked all council chairmen in his constituency, to put the equipment to immediate and accountable use, in order to give value to the state government’s investment at the grassroot level.

He also urged them to take advantage of the dry season to demonstrate their passion and willingness in doing the bidding of the masses.

According to him, the chairmen are duty bound to significantly accelerate routine and emergency road works and drainage clearing, to control erosion and other critical civil works that directly affects the daily lives of the masses.

He noted that the absence of such equipment in local government councils in the past, had hampered grassroots development in several ways.

“The recent action of the governor, has eliminated issues of delay in construction work, as councils don’t have to wait anymore for private contractors or haulage services providers who usually inflate cost for road repairs,” he said

Dekeri therefore, called for regular maintenance of the equipment as well as their transparent deployment for public works.

Meanwhile, he reiterated his commitment to supporting policies that would turn state investments into durable improvements across communities.
