Leicester City Up for Sale for £200 million

King Power, the Thai owners of 2015-2016 English Premier League champions, Leicester City, have hired Citigroup, a global investment bank, to help sell the club’s physical assets for over £200 million.

The bank has already published an eight-page sales booklet on behalf of the owners, who are ready to leave the club after their 16-year ownership.

According to the BBC, listed up for sale in the brochure titled ‘Project Lineup,’ are the men and women’s team, other major assets, including the 32,000-seat King Power Stadium and its Seagrave training facility, opened in 2020, worth £121 million, as well as OH Leuven, Leicester’s Belgian sister club.

The company, in the brochure, described the move as “a rare opportunity to acquire a club with an excellent track record of winning promotions to higher divisions.”

Leicester City in the brochure, included their other successes on the pitch, including winning the FA Cup in 2021, but failed to mention their back-to-back relegations from the top flight and the Championship.

Citigroup, in the brochure, also predicted the club’s turnover to be over £97 million for the 2026 financial year, but also omitted their years of financial losses and the debts, which, as outlined in its 2025 accounts, included £103.6 million in bank loans.

King Power, run by the Srivaddhanaprabha family, bought the club in 2010, from Milan Mandaric, for £35 million. Khun Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha, is the current chairman, after his father Khun Vichai, died in 2019, in a helicopter crash outside the stadium.

To push the sale, the club is being positioned in the brochure, as one of only five clubs to have won all three major English trophies – the EPL, FA Cup and League Cup – since 2000.

The development followed calls by fans for the club to be sold, especially after relegation from the Championship was confirmed last season.
