Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi has commended the contractor handling the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, Messrs CCECC, for their good work so far.
The Minister made the commendation Tuesday while undertaking an inspection of the 7.3 miles (11.8 kilometres) bridge alongside the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Chief Wale Edun.
The Ministers, according to a statement, took time to examine different aspects of the rehabilitation work, commending the contractors for their efforts.
Sen. Umahi particularly gave good attention to the ongoing relaying of asphalt pavements of the bridge which commenced at the Owornshoki end of the bridge, noting the quality of work done by the contractor, and encouraging them to maintain the quality.
On the installation of the solar based street lights and the CCTV cameras on the 3rd mainland, Engr Umahi described solar lights as very useful and would be strategic for road users.
He however told the contractors to ensure the right quality materials are utilised to ensure value for money.
In the inspection team of the two ministers were other senior government officials and the contractor handling the project.

The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three road bridges crossing the Lagos Lagoon and Africa’s second-longest. Officially named the Ibrahim Babangida, IBB, Bridge after a Nigerian president under whom it was commissioned, It connects the commercial district to the mainland of Lagos.
