Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho, representing Kogi East senatorial district, has emphasised that his initiatives prioritises people over politics. He stated, “My constituency projects, palliative distributions, and interventions transcend party lines. Humanity comes first before politics.”
Senator Echocho, also the Senate Committee Chairman on Customs, plans to collaborate more closely with cooperatives and groups to ensure his efforts reach a wider range of residents effectively.
He explained the benefits of working with groups, stating, “We need to re-evaluate how we reach out to our constituents. This involves reaching them through the groups they are already affiliated with.”
The Senator called for continued unity amidst rising living costs. He also addressed his recently announced Graduate Entrepreneurship Scheme, assuring that beneficiaries will be chosen on merit through a transparent selection process.
“This scheme won’t be based on political affiliation,” Senator Echocho declared. “Beneficiaries will be chosen strictly on merit by a committee of credible individuals.
“We intend to link them to financial institutions for further business support. Our contribution is seed capital of one million naira per beneficiary.”
He emphasised a commitment to fair selection, stating, “There will be no ‘Man knows Man’ approach. Applications will be submitted online to discourage influence peddling. The best 10 entries will be selected in the first phase and invited to defend their business proposals.”
