Nafiu’s Aide, Bala Kumo, Picks ADC Form for Gombe Central Senate Race

Hon. Bala Sani Kumo, Chief of Staff to the factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Nafiu Bala Gombe, has officially obtained the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest for the Gombe Central Senatorial District seat ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The development is seen by political observers as a significant step in the emerging political activities leading to the 2027 polls in Gombe State.

Kumo’s decision to join the senatorial race has already begun generating excitement among supporters, party loyalists, and political stakeholders across the district, many of whom described his ambition as a move driven by commitment, courage, and a desire to provide quality representation for the people of Gombe Central.

Supporters of the aspirant said his vision for inclusive leadership, unity, and people-oriented politics has continued to resonate with residents across the zone.

Addressing journalist shortly after obtaining the nomination forms, Kumo said his aspiration was inspired by his belief that public office should be treated as a responsibility to serve the people rather than a personal privilege.

Hon. Kumo explained that his decision to contest was aimed at contributing his skills and experience toward addressing challenges facing the people of the district while promoting accountability and transparency in governance.

He said: “My objective for obtaining Gombe Central Senatorial District nomination form is because I believe that public office is a public trust, not a personal privilege. Our democracy works best when citizens with a genuine commitment to service step forward, offer themselves for scrutiny, and seek the mandate of the people.

“I took this step to contribute my skills and experience to solving the problems facing our community, and to give constituents a clear choice rooted in accountability, transparency, and participation.”

The ADC chieftain further expressed confidence in his ability to effectively represent the people of Gombe Central, stressing that his leadership philosophy is rooted in democratic principles and broad consultation with the electorate.

“I believe I am the right person for this role because my approach is grounded in democratic principles. First, I am committed to listening more than speaking, to making decisions through consultation with the people I would represent, not behind closed doors.

“Second, I have a track record of integrity and follow-through in my professional and community engagements, which I intend to bring to public office. Third, I understand that leadership in a democracy means being answerable to the electorate, respecting the rule of law, and using public resources solely for public good.”

Hon. Kumo assured constituents that if elected, his priority would be to deliver measurable results while ensuring that all voices are fairly represented in governance and decision-making processes.

“If given the mandate, my focus will be on delivering measurable results while ensuring that every voice has a fair hearing in the process,” he stated.

Political analysts believe the entry of Hon. Bala Sani Kumo into the race could add fresh momentum to the political contest in Gombe Central, particularly within the ADC, as parties begin early preparations for the 2027 general elections.

They noted that issues such as youth empowerment, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and inclusive governance are expected to dominate political conversations in the district ahead of the polls.

With the formal declaration now made through the acquisition of nomination forms, attention is expected to shift toward consultations, grassroots mobilization, and strategic engagements among political actors in Gombe Central Senatorial District.
