The naira closed the week with a marginal decline in the official market, trading at ₦1,343.63 per U.S. dollar on Friday.
Data published on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) website showed that the local currency lost ₦1.33, representing a 0.09% depreciation compared to Thursday’s rate of ₦1,342.30 per dollar.
The naira had sustained a two-week appreciation before Friday’s slight downturn. It opened the week at ₦1,356.18 on Monday, then strengthened to ₦1,343.76 on Tuesday, and remained nearly flat at ₦1,343.74 on Wednesday. Thursday’s rate of ₦1,342.30 marked the week’s strongest level before Friday’s close.
