NBA Set-up Panel To Probe Randy Dean, Recalcitrant Members Over Misconduct
By Abasi Ita
Determined to check the excesses of recalcitrant members whose conduct is inimical to its revered image, the
Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has inaugurated an ad-hoc committee with the mandate of investigating the allegations of sexual assault leveled against the embattled Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon currently on indefinite suspension.
Members of the committee comprise the NBA 1st Vice President, Linda Rose Bala, Assistant General Secretary, Daniel Kip, Chairperson of the NBA Women’s Forum, and the Chairman of the NBA Calabar Branch.
The NBA has also filed petitions against the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, and a young lawyer of the Aba Branch of the body, wildly known as “the Baddest lawyer” on social media, Ifunanya Excel Grant.
Summit Post News gathered that while Yunusa-Ari is billed to face the Probe Panel over his despicable role in illegally declaring the result of the supplementary 2023 governorship election in Adamawa State while votes were still being collated, the complaints against Miss Ifunanya revolved around her social media fame where she is notorious for posting pictures of herself in semi-nude attire and videos of herself smoking marijuana.
A statement issued on Saturday by the National Publicity Secretary of NBA, Akorede Habeeb Lawal, revealed that the decision to institute a probe against the trio was adopted by the National Executive Committee of the body during its recent monthly meeting presided over by its President, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau with all national officers in attendance.
The statement stated, “The NBA NEC subsequently empaneled an ad-hoc committee comprising the 1st Vice President of the NBA, Mrs. Linda Rose Bala, the Assistant General Secretary of the NBA, Mr. Daniel Kip, Chairperson of NBA Women’s Forum and the Chairman of the NBA Calabar Branch, to investigate the allegations against the university lecturer.

“You may also be aware of the recent media report of the attempted bribe of Justice Flora Azinge of the National Assembly and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kano. The NBA has, by a letter dated August 16, 2023, formally requested His Lordship to avail the NBA of further details in this regard to enable investigation into this allegation.
