The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has directed all its relevant directorates to suspend services to 11 local airlines over outstanding financial obligations owed to the agency.
This was communicated in a memo dated May 22, 2026, titled “Updated List of Airlines on No-Pay-No-Service,” signed by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Olufemi Odukoya.
The affected carriers include Air Peace, Ibom Air, Arik Air, United Nigeria Airlines, Umza Air, NGeagle Airline, Max Air, Caverton Helicopters, Overland Airways, Rano Air, and ValueJet.
According to the directive, the Director-General of the NCAA, Chris Najomo, instructed that no service should be provided to any of the listed airlines unless clearance is obtained from the Directorate of Finance and Accounts.
Authorities said the action is part of efforts to recover outstanding aviation-related charges owed by the airlines, including the mandatory five per cent Ticket Sales Charge collected from passengers on behalf of the NCAA.
The levy, which is expected to be remitted to the aviation regulator, is a statutory charge and not intended for airlines’ operational expenses.
