NDC Co-Opts Minority Blocs To Build Viable Opposition

The National Democratic Congress, NDC, is expanding its net to co-opt minority blocs in Nigeria towards building viable Opposition Political Party strong enough to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 general elections.

The emerging Opposition Party also perfects its overtures into the dominant political climes to pull out blocs in the periphery in its political recruitment scheme.

According to the National Leader of the NDC, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, “Today, in continuation of our ongoing engagements with key political leaders from across the country, we had the pleasure of receiving Comrade Babatunde F. Alli, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, alongside his teaming supporters, into our great party.”

He highlighted that Comrade Alli, a seasoned political activist mentored by the late Mallam Balarabe Musa, devoted over two decades of service to the PRP, serving twice as National Secretary and most, recently, as Deputy National Chairman, before resigning his membership to join the NDC. He came in the company of several former PRP officers drawn from different states of the Federation, Dickson said.

Dickson thanked the National Chairman of the NDC, Moses Cleopas, and members of the National Working Committee, who have confirmed him as the Deputy National Chairman, South, of the NDC, pending ratification by Congress.

Dickson added that the NDC also received Prof. Mohammed Sani Yahaya, accompanied by former Permanent Secretary, Musa Istiphanus, from Taraba State, who joined the party accompanied by key party leaders from the state.

He said that they were directed to work closely with the State Chairman and officers of the NDC in Taraba State to further strengthen and reposition the party there.

“In the same vein, we welcomed Hon. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, former member of the House of Representatives and former member of the Federal Code of Conduct Bureau, as well as a notable political figure in Edo State, who has also joined the NDC.

“We thank all of them for believing in the vision of the NDC and urge them to commit their energy, experience, and networks toward building a stronger party that can offer credible leadership and a better future for Nigeria”.
