Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused President Bola Tinubu of plotting to block him from contesting in the 2027 general election.
Mr Obi made the claim a few hours after the Federal High Court, Lokoja Division, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the NDC over logo infringement.
“Today, the federal government is doing everything possible to stop me from becoming a candidate in this 2027 election, I can tell you for a fact they won’t win,” Mr Obi said.
Mr Obi spoke at Madonna University in Anambra State on Friday, shortly after the court order set aside its earlier judgement and directed INEC to deregister the NDC as a political party.
The NDC presidential candidate said life comes with different struggle, urging his followers to always look beyond their struggles and focus on their destination.
Mr Obi contested the 2023 presidential election, where he came third with 6,101,533 million votes, accounting for 25.40 per cent of the total votes.
He joined the Labour Party few months to the election.
