NECO Warns Against Fake Recruitment Portals for Examination Supervisors ‎

By Ngozi Nwankwo

‎The National Examinations Council (NECO) has alerted members of the public to the existence of fraudulent online portals claiming to recruit examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
‎
‎In a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the Council said the fake websites were requesting applicants to submit details of their academic credentials and make payments as part of the recruitment process.
‎
‎NECO stressed that it does not require any payment from teachers seeking to serve as examination supervisors and urged prospective applicants to disregard such fraudulent requests.
‎
‎The Council explained that, in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria and efforts to strengthen examination supervision, it has migrated from the traditional analogue recruitment process to a fully electronic system.
‎
‎According to the statement, all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old and interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 SSCE Internal, should apply through the official NECO recruitment portal.
‎
‎NECO noted that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.
‎
‎The Council said the new system is designed to eliminate fraud in the recruitment of supervisors, curb examination malpractice, and promote fairness, transparency, and credibility in the selection process.
‎
‎It disclosed that more than 22,000 supervisors would be recruited to facilitate the smooth conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal Examination, scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
‎
‎NECO advised applicants and members of the public to remain vigilant and use only its official recruitment platform for all applications.
