NERC Hears Petition By TCN On Fault Ratio Attribution
By ABAH ADAH, Abuja
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has heard a petition filed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, seeking a review of NERC’s directive on fault ratio attribution in the Service Level Agreement, SLA, according to a post on the Commission’s X, formerly Twitter, handle.
The petition hearing at the TCN headquarters had the petition hearing panel chaired by the Vice Chairman, Dr. Musiliu Oseni. The SLA entered into by TCN with the distribution companies (DisCos) allocates a ratio attribution of 30 percent and 70% between TCN and DisCos.
TCN, represented by its head of legal services, Fatima Mukhtar, submitted that this arrangement was affecting the viability of TCN operations as she proposed a 50:50 arrangement.
Representatives of the DisCos noted their submissions to NERC against the requested review, stating that the proposed ratio attribution by TCN for the parties may not be competitive to drive efficiency in the electricity market.
The Panel’s Chairman and Vice Chairman of NERC, Dr Musiliu Oseni, noted the submissions and presentations made by both parties, adding that NERC would study them
and make a decision within the duration provided in the petition hearing proceedings.
