Insecurity: Niger Set To Identify Settlers In Kontagora 5yrs And Bellow
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is to set up an investigative committee that would investigate and verify the true identity of those who have settled in Kontagora Emirate in the last five years and acquired landed properties.
Governor Sani Bello stated this when he paid Sallah Homage to the Sarkin Sudan Kontagora, HRH Muhammadu Barau Muazu II at his Palace in Kontagora.
He said the verification exercise has become necessary in order to rid the Emirate of informants and kidnappers.
The Governor revealed that the committee will be under the leadership of Mai Sudan.
According to him, even though there was relative peace in the state the government will not relent in its efforts towards ending the nefarious activities of bandits.
He cautioned the people to always respect constituted authorities.
The Governor used the opportunity to remind the people of the demolition exercise of houses built on Kontagora Dam waterways as residents of the affected buildings have been compensated by the state government.
He said there is no going back on the demolition exercise, especially as the rainy season approaches.
The Governor then directed the Ministry of Lands and that of Water to ensure that the demolition exercise is carried out within a week after the public holiday.
On the issue of the epileptic power supply, Governor Sani Bello said a transformer that would effectively serve them has been procured, and will soon be fixed.
Responding, Sarkin Sudan Kontagora thanked the Governor for the immense support he was giving the Emirate.
Mai Sudan assured the Governor of total support to government policies geared towards the development of the Emirate and that the Emirate is taking cognisance of visitors in their midst.
The Governor thereafter paid a condolence visit to the family of Barrister Mika Anaci who died recently.
