Nigeria Applauds Gaza Ceasefire Agreement, Urges Lasting Peace

The Federal Government of Nigeria has applauded the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, calling it a beacon of hope for the war-torn region.

The agreement, which was brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, is expected to bring an end to the devastating loss of civilian life and human tragedy witnessed in Gaza over the past 15 months

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the Nigerian government welcomes the supply of much-needed aid and relief materials to the affected areas. “The ceasefire agreement presents the people of the region with an opportunity for hope and compassion,” the statement read.

The statement praised the international guarantors of the peace deal, including Egypt, Qatar, and the US, for their tireless efforts in negotiating the agreement. Nigeria also reaffirmed its support for a two-state solution as the blueprint for a just and lasting peace in the region.

“The Nigerian government urges all stakeholders to build on the new momentum and work towards the successful implementation of the second and third phases of the agreement,” said Kimiebi lmomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “We remain committed to supporting efforts that promote peace, stability, and development in the Middle East”
