The Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police Force have reaffirmed their commitment to work together to tackle security challenges in Lagos and Ogun states.
This renewed partnership was solidified during a courtesy visit from Assistant Inspector General of Police, Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade, to General Officer Commanding 81 Division NA, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, on October 29, 2024.
Major General Mijinyawa emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and security in these economically vital states, ensuring the Nigerian Army’s continued support while acknowledging the crucial role of the Nigeria Police Force in internal security operations. “Maintaining peace and security in Lagos and Ogun states is crucial, considering their strategic economic importance to the nation,” Mijinyawa stated.
AIG Fayoade described his visit as an effort to sustain the existing synergy between the two organizations, highlighting the national significance of the Army-Police collaboration. He pledged the full cooperation of the Police in ensuring the safety and security of citizens in Lagos and Ogun states. “Our collaboration is critical to national security, and we are committed to working together to protect our citizens,” Fayoade noted.
The successful joint operations have had a positive impact on the security of both states. The GOC and AIG commended the effective collaboration and joint efforts that have yielded tangible results in maintaining law and order.
The visit concluded with a symbolic exchange of souvenirs, signifying the already existing synergy between the two forces. This gesture reinforced the commitment of both organizations to deepen their partnership and work together seamlessly.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 81 Division NA, the renewed partnership demonstrates the determination of the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police Force to address security challenges and ensure a safer environment for citizens in Lagos and Ogun states.
