Nigeria’s High Commissioner-Designate to India, Ambassador S.D. Muhammad, on Friday presented his Letters of Credence to the Chief of Protocol at India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Amir Kumar, in New Delhi, marking the formal commencement of his diplomatic assignment.
The presentation ceremony took place at 11:00 a.m. at the Ministry of External Affairs and was followed by a courtesy visit to the Secretary for Central and West Africa, Sevala Naik Mude of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).
During the engagements, Ambassador Muhammad conveyed Nigeria’s appreciation to the Government of India for the warm reception accorded to him and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership between both countries.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including trade and investment, defence and security, energy and critical minerals, agriculture and food security, information and communications technology (ICT), education, health and pharmaceuticals, as well as cultural exchanges.
The High Commissioner-Designate also expressed his readiness to work closely with India’s Ministry of External Affairs and other relevant authorities to advance the shared interests of both countries and further deepen Nigeria-India relations.
Ambassador Muhammad was accompanied to the meetings by three officials of the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi.
