The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the indefinite suspension of the operations of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the company managing Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the United States, with effect from July 1.
‎
‎The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi.
‎
‎According to the NIS, the suspension affects visa applicants and Nigerians residing in the United States seeking entry visas into Nigeria.
‎
‎Following the directive, all visa applications must now be submitted directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General in New York and Atlanta.
‎
‎Akinlabi explained that the suspension of OIS Services would remain in effect until further notice but noted that it only applies to physical visa application submissions at Nigerian diplomatic missions in the United States.
‎
‎He clarified that Nigeria’s electronic visa (e-Visa) platform remains fully operational, urging applicants to continue processing e-Visas through the official online portal.
‎
‎The immigration spokesperson said the Service had put measures in place to ensure uninterrupted visa submission, processing and issuance despite the suspension of the Visa Application Centres.
‎
‎He also advised applicants to rely on official communication channels of the NIS and Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the United States for updates on visa application procedures.
‎
‎Akinlabi thanked applicants for their understanding and cooperation, reaffirming the Service’s commitment to efficient and seamless service delivery.
