The Police Service Commission has warned applicants and members of the public against a fake shortlist of candidates allegedly selected for medical screening in the ongoing police recruitment exercise.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission described the list circulating on social media as false and unauthorised, stressing that it had not released any names for the medical examination stage.
The statement, signed by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Ikechukwu Ani, explained that the recruitment process had not yet reached that phase, as the assessment of candidates’ written examinations was still being finalised.
According to the Commission, successful applicants will be notified once the evaluation process is completed. It added that official invitations for medical screening would be sent through recognised channels, including email, SMS messages, the recruitment portal and other verified platforms.
The PSC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent and merit-driven recruitment exercise, noting that selecting qualified personnel remains essential to strengthening the Nigeria Police Force.
It also cautioned applicants to be wary of fraudsters and misinformation aimed at exploiting job seekers, stressing that all authentic information regarding the recruitment exercise would come only from its official communication channels.
The Commission further reminded candidates that participation in the recruitment exercise is entirely free, urging them to ignore unofficial notices and wait for formal updates from the PSC.
