A Nigerian advocacy group, Concerned Northern Frontier (CNF), has issued a statement urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address policy reversals by some ministers, potentially hindering the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of his administration.
The statement, signed by convener Mohammed Bassa, specifically criticizes Housing and Urban Development Minister Arc Ahmed Musa Dangiwa for allegedly making “unprintable remarks” about agencies under his purview, including the Federal Mortgage Bank (FMB) which he previously led. The CNF demands transparency regarding Dangiwa’s spending of a N100 billion allocation and the purpose of established review committees.
Expressing concern about potential privatization agendas and job losses, the CNF calls for National Assembly intervention to investigate contract revocations and re-awarding based on “settlement.” They urge Dangiwa to “face the renewed hope agenda” and avoid “reversing policies for selfish interests.”
Highlighting progress made by the FMB and Federal Housing Authority (FHA) under the previous administration, the CNF emphasizes the need to build upon existing achievements rather than starting afresh. They advocate for continued support for these agencies and urge President Tinubu to caution ministers “playing politics” with past approvals and progress.
The statement reaffirms the CNF’s support for Tinubu’s agenda and appeals for public patience. The group pledges to “regularly expose those with negative intentions within the government.”
