Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State have arrested 10 individuals suspected of involvement in vandalism, theft, criminal conspiracy, trespass, and handling stolen property.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the suspects were picked up in separate coordinated operations across different parts of Kano State Kano State, including Gwarmai in Ghari Local Government Area, as well as Challawa Industrial Area, Unguwar Rimi, and Waratallawa in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
The NSCDC explained that the suspects were allegedly operating in different groups before being tracked and arrested by operatives following intelligence reports.
Items recovered from them include about 200 metres of aluminium conductor cables, mobile phones, copper wires, power banks, and weapons such as knives, cutlasses, a sword, and scissors.
The command further revealed that the suspects had already been profiled and were publicly paraded at the state headquarters by the Commandant, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama.
Authorities say investigations have been concluded and the suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution.
Reaffirming the agency’s position, the Commandant restated the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure and maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against vandalism and other criminal activities. He also urged residents to support security agencies with useful information to curb crime in the state.
