Ododo Receives Ajaka at Gov’t House, Hails Move as Boost for APC Unity in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Wednesday, May 13, hosted Alh. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka at the Government House, Lokoja, in a courtesy visit seen as a significant step toward political reconciliation in the state.

Ajaka, who contested the 2023 governorship election on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The development is being viewed within party circles as a move that strengthens consolidation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting centered on reconciliation, unity, and a shared commitment to strengthening the APC in Kogi State.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo commended Ajaka for what he described as a mature and statesmanlike disposition.

“I appreciate Alh. Ajaka for his mature disposition,” Ododo said. “My commitment remains unwavering to uniting the people of Kogi State, irrespective of political differences, in the overall interest of peace, progress, and development.”

The governor stressed that the task of building a greater Kogi State must go beyond party lines and personal interests.

“The task of building a greater Kogi State remains a collective responsibility that must transcend political contests and personal interests,” he added.

Ajaka’s return to the APC is expected to bolster the party’s structure across the state, bringing together former rivals under a single platform ahead of the next electoral cycle.

The visit was confirmed in a statement signed by Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications, dated May 13, 2026.
