A 32-year-old man, Sodiq Oyerinde, was on Tuesday, charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for stealing a motorcycle valued at N400,000.
Mr Oyerinde, whose address was not provided, is standing trial for stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 16, at about 8.15 p.m. at Hosmark Road, Iloye, in Ota.
He alleged that the defendant stole a Bajaj Motorcycle with registration number LAR 948 UX, valued at N400,000, belonging to one Shaheed Tijani.
According to him, the defendant fled with the motorcycle, but was eventually arrested following a police investigation, and charged in court.
The magistrate, O.O.Fadairo, granted the defendant bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She held that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
She adjourned the case until February 19, 2026, for a hearing.
