Operation Kosaye: Abiodun Praises Security Forces for Crackdown on Kidnappers in Ogun–Lagos Axis ‎

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has praised the Inspector-General of Police and security operatives in Ogun and Lagos for what he described as a successful and well-coordinated crackdown on kidnapping under the joint initiative known as Operation Kosaye.

‎

‎The governor lauded the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for launching the inter-state security collaboration between the Ogun State and Lagos State Police Commands, noting that the initiative has significantly improved safety along the border communities of both states.

‎

‎In a statement released in Abeokuta by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Abiodun described the operation as intelligence-led, proactive, and effective in tackling rising security threats in the region.

‎

‎According to the statement, joint security teams involved in Operation Kosaye have intensified patrols and raids across forest areas and suspected criminal hideouts along the Ogun–Lagos corridor. These operations have reportedly led to the neutralisation of armed criminals, the arrest of dozens of suspects, and the rescue of kidnapped victims.

‎

‎The governor said the achievements of the operation have boosted public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and demonstrated the effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in combating crime.

‎

‎He further stated that the sustained pressure on criminal groups has made both states increasingly unsafe for kidnappers and bandits who previously exploited boundary communities as safe havens.

‎

‎Abiodun also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies with logistics, technology, and other resources needed to strengthen ongoing operations.

‎

‎He commended the Commissioners of Police in both states, Bode Ojajuni and Tijani Fatai, alongside all officers involved in the exercise, for their professionalism and dedication.

‎

‎The governor urged other states to adopt similar collaborative security frameworks, stressing that coordinated inter-state efforts remain crucial to defeating evolving criminal networks.

‎

‎Operation Kosaye, jointly launched by the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands, was introduced to address rising security challenges across the two neighbouring states. Authorities say the operation has so far led to the neutralisation of four suspected kidnappers, the rescue of five victims, and the arrest of 88 suspects.
