Governor Ademola Adeleke has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mr Adeleke disclosed this in a letter dated November 4, addressed to the chairman of the party in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government Area, Osun.
In the letter made public in the early hours of Tuesday in Osogbo, Mr Adeleke cited persistent leadership turmoil at the party’s national level as the reason for his resignation.
The letter stated, “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the party with immediate effect.
”I thank the PDP for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a senator (Representative, Osun West) and as governor of Osun State under the Peoples Democratic Party.”
Although the governor did not mention the party he would be defecting to in the letter, it was learnt that Mr Adeleke might pitch tent with the Accord Party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed August 8, 2026, for the Osun governorship election.
