Otu Hails Deputy at 52, Praises Loyalty

By Abasi Ita

Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has congratulated his deputy, Dr Peter Odey, on his 52nd birthday, describing him as a loyal partner, accomplished statesman and dedicated public servant whose contributions have strengthened governance and accelerated development in the state.

In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday through his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Linus Obogo, the governor praised Odey’s commitment to duty, humility, diligence and unwavering loyalty, noting that he has remained a dependable ally in the administration’s quest to deliver prosperity, stability and inclusive development for Cross River people.

Governor Otu said the occasion was not only a celebration of another year in the life of the deputy governor but also an opportunity to recognise a leader whose public service record reflects integrity, discipline and dedication.

“Today, I celebrate not just a Deputy Governor, but a trusted brother, a dependable confidant and an extraordinary public servant whose loyalty has remained unshaken, whose commitment has remained unquestionable and whose devotion to the service of our people continues to inspire all who have the privilege of associating with him,” the governor stated.

He described Odey as a leader blessed with wisdom, emotional intelligence and sound judgment, qualities he said have contributed significantly to the stability and success of the administration.

According to Otu, the deputy governor has consistently demonstrated courage, patience and insight in the discharge of his responsibilities, offering valuable counsel that reflects maturity and an enduring commitment to the collective interest of the state.

The governor further noted that beyond his official duties, Odey has become a symbol of teamwork and institutional loyalty, exemplifying the virtues of collaborative leadership.

He said at a time when personal ambition often overshadows public interest, the deputy governor has remained focused on supporting a shared vision and strengthening government institutions for the benefit of the people.

Otu also commended Odey’s humility, accessibility and concern for the welfare of citizens, qualities he said have earned him admiration across communities and among critical stakeholders within and outside the state.

The governor praised the deputy governor’s role in advancing the administration’s People First agenda, describing him as a reliable pillar whose efforts have helped deepen public confidence in government and support the implementation of key development programmes.

He added that Odey’s energy, sincerity and commitment to excellence have continued to make a positive impact on governance in Cross River State.

As the deputy governor marked his 52nd birthday, Governor Otu prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him, including good health, wisdom, strength and greater opportunities for service.

He described Odey as one of the finest examples of loyalty, honour and purposeful leadership in contemporary public service and wished him many more years of impactful service to Cross River State and the nation.
