Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, and the Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, have been appointed into the All Progressives Congress National Convention Central Planning Committee ahead of the party’s 2026 national convention.
The two leaders are among the 73 members named into the committee by the national leadership of the APC.
The committee is chaired by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, and includes all APC governors, the President of the Senate, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, and other senior party stalwarts.
The appointments followed the release of the APC schedule of activities for the 2026 ward, local government, state, zonal and national congresses, in line with Article 11 of the party’s constitution.
According to the timetable, ward congresses are scheduled to hold on Thursday, February 19, 2026, followed by local government congresses on the same date.
State congresses will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, while zonal congresses are billed for Saturday, March 18, 2026.
The APC National Convention is slated for Wednesday, March 25, to Saturday, March 28, 2026.
The inclusion of Governor Otu and Senator Jarigbe in the central planning committee is widely viewed as a reflection of Cross River State’s rising profile within the ruling party and their contributions to strengthening the APC as it prepares for the 2026 convention and future political activities.
