Kenyan authorities on Tuesday confirmed the first case of Ebola virus infection in a citizen who lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo for the past seven years.
‎‎Kenya’s health minister, Aden Duale, in a press conference, confirmed the Ebola-infected Kenyan citizen died days after arriving in Nairobi.
‎‎According to Mr Duale, the patient was screened at the main airport in Nairobi when he boarded a flight on Saturday and was transferred by a family member to a hospital, where the patient tested positive for Ebola Bundibugyo virus.
‎‎About 28 people, including family members, who had potential contact with the dead have been identified, Mr Duale said.
‎Over 4,000 have been killed by the deadly virus, ravaging DR Congo in the past few months.
