PCRC Names Proposed National Secretariat after IGP Disu

The Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, has commenced construction of its National Secretariat in Abuja, naming the building “Olatunji Disu House” in honour of the Inspector-General of Police.

The National Chairman of PCRC, Ibrahim Olaniyan, said this on Wednesday at the foundation-laying ceremony in Abuja, describing the project as a major milestone for the committee.

He said the project marked a transition from a temporary office structure to a permanent headquarters, following approval of the Federal Capital Development Authority for the allocated site.

Mr Olaniyan expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Police Affairs and successive police leadership for their support in securing the land and advancing the committee’s long-term development plans.

He said the project would be executed through a public-private partnership to reduce financial pressure on the Federal Government while ensuring timely completion.

“We know the burden the government is facing, so we requested to use a private developer.

“Through Nigeria Police Property Limited, we secured a private partner to build the estate and our National Secretariat,” he said.

He said naming the secretariat after the Inspector-General was a tribute to his family’s longstanding support for PCRC activities and community policing initiatives across the country.

Mr Olaniyan added that the IGP’s father had remained an active PCRC member in Lagos, consistently contributing and supporting the organisation’s programmes over the years.

He also commended Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Zone 7, Victor Olaiya, describing him as a “game changer” for his support and prioritisation of PCRC initiatives.

He said the project, which would include office spaces and hotel accommodation, is expected to be completed and commissioned by December.

AIG Olaiya, who performed the foundation laying, said the project represented a significant step towards strengthening the committee’s institutional capacity and infrastructure.
