PDP Governors Berate Wike’ Over “Irresponsible” Statements
In a strong rebuke, the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has condemned the recently statements and threats made by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing them as “unbridled, irresponsible, and totally unacceptable.”
The Forum, comprising governors from PDP-controlled states, expressed significant concerns about the unity and peaceful coexistence within the party. They noted that Wike’s comments undermine efforts to build and maintain peace, cohesion, and collaboration among party leaders and members.
“It is rather unfortunate that this is coming from someone who was once a member of this highly revered forum as a former governor,” the statement read. “We expect more decorum and respect from someone of his stature.”
The governors emphasized their commitment to standing by each other, maintaining a “touch one, touch all” philosophy. “We therefore maintain that our position on the affairs of the PDP in Rivers State…are not subject to review by any individual, no matter how highly placed,” the statement said.

The Forum also expressed their dedication to working with the National Working Committee (NWC) to ensure Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State receives all entitlements due to him as a PDP governor. “Our undiluted commitment to the unity of our party is paramount,” the statement emphasized.
Furthermore, the governors urged the NWC to find an amicable solution to the crisis in Rivers State and encouraged Wike to engage constructively with the party’s reconciliation processes. “Dialogue and reconciliation are the pathways to resolving differences and strengthening the party,” the statement concluded.
In a final note, the governors called on national security agencies to take note of Wike’s threats, stating, “No one is above the laws of the land.” This statement highlights the seriousness with which the governors view Wike’s comments and their potential impact on the party and national stability.
