The People’s Democratic Party Governorship Candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has dismissed allegations that he harbours hatred against Muslims in the state.
The former senator insisted that he enjoys cordial relationships with Muslims, noting that some of his relatives, political associates and business partners are Muslims.
He explained that his past political disagreements with former Acting Governor, Garba Umar, popularly known as UTC, were purely political and should not be interpreted as religious intolerance.
He stated this while speaking with Journalists in Jalingo shortly after he has been affirmed as the sole candidate of the party for the 2027 Governorship Election, describing the allegation as political hate speech.
“It is political hate speech, I belongs to every religion and would not discriminate against any group if given the mandate to govern.
According to him, governance requires building relationships across religious lines, not exploiting them for political gain. “Governorship has to do with power relationships and lovers of every religion,” he said, stressing that leaders must prioritize unity over sectarian interests.
Bwacha has repeatedly warned against the use of religion and ethnicity as tools in politics.
“Incompetent politicians fuel ethno-religious crises by whipping up sentiments to win elections. Eighty percent of politicians get themselves elected by whipping up ethnic and religious sentiments.
He urge voters to assess candidates based on capacity rather than faith or tribe.
He maintained that his focus remains on inclusive leadership that addresses the needs of all communities, regardless of faith.
The aspirant pledged to restore the loosed economy of Taraba State if elected as governor, assuring commitment to both Muslim, Christian and Pagans.
