As Muslims world over celebrate Eid-El-Fitr to mark the end of the month of Ramadan, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has charged all and sundry to intensify prayers for a peaceful society.
Governor Sani Bello gave the charge in an interview shortly after performing the two Raka’at Prayer alongside the Sakin Zazzau Suleja, Mallam Muhammad Awwal Ibrahim, at the Dawaki Eid praying ground Suleja.
The Governor who observed that Niger state particularly, has been experiencing relative peace for about a year now, though not without pockets of challenges, however stressed the need not to relent in prayers.
“Generally we thank God, Niger State has been relatively calm and peaceful especially for about a year, but we still need to intensify prayers and be tolerant of each other”, he emphasized.
While described Suleja as an important local government to the state due to it’s proximity to Abuja, the nation’s capital, he decried the security and environmental hazards being experienced by the residents.
According to him, “there is a lot of pressure on their infrastructure, but the Council Chairman and other government agencies are doing their best to make sure the residents of Suleja are comfortable”.
The Governor wished everyone a happy and peaceful holiday.
The two Raka’at Prayer was led by the Eid Chief Imam Suleja, Imam Abdullahi Kassim.
In his sermon, he reminded the congregants of the need to sustain all the lessons they learnt during the Ramadan and ensure their goodness and kindness to the less privileged goes beyond Ramadan.
The Eid Chief Imam also tasked them to remain steadfast in praying for the society adding that they should remain security cautious and provide intelligence to security agencies as it is a collective responsibility.
He offered special prayer for peaceful co-existence in Niger State in particular and Nigerian in general.
The Governor was accompanied by some members of the state executive council and well wishers.
