The Niger State Police Command has arrested a 31-year-old suspected motorcycle robber, Babangida Ali, in Bakin-Iku area along Kaduna Road in the Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, who hails from Kagarko village, allegedly forcibly snatched a motorcycle from its owner and fled the scene, according to a statement on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun.
Mr Abiodun said, “On April 2, 2026, at about 5:40 p.m., a distress call was received from Bakin-Iku area that at about 4:40 p.m., a motorcyclist with a Bajaj motorcycle bearing registration number MNA 172 VH was stopped and boarded by one Babangida Ali, 31, of Kagarko.
“While on their way along Kaduna Road, the passenger forcefully took the motorcycle from the rider and sped off.”
Mr Abiodun said operatives of the Maje Division patrol team swiftly responded, chased the suspect, and arrested him with the stolen motorcycle.
“During interrogation, the suspect mentioned other members of his syndicate as Usman Danbokolo and Sharu,” he added.
The police spokesperson said that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing accomplices.
