The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three men suspected of involvement in an armed robbery operation that reportedly resulted in the death of a resident of Gwaram Town in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
‎
‎The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed the development in a statement released on Tuesday, explaining that the arrests followed investigations into a case reported at the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters on March 7, 2026.
‎
‎According to the police, the breakthrough came on June 19 when operatives apprehended a 25-year-old suspect, Muhammad Umar, popularly known as “Jijji,” while he was allegedly in possession of a motorcycle belonging to the deceased victim.
‎
‎Investigators said Umar confessed during questioning and allegedly identified two other individuals linked to the incident. Acting on the information, detectives launched a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of 45-year-old Usman M. Gidado and 35-year-old Danladi Yakubu, also known as “Pagaj.”
‎
‎All three suspects are residents of Gwaram Town, where the alleged crime occurred.
‎
‎Police further confirmed the recovery of the victim’s motorcycle, which has been retained as evidence in the case.
‎
‎The suspects and the recovered motorcycle have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and possible prosecution.
‎
‎SP Habib stated that once investigations are concluded, the suspects will be arraigned before a competent court.
‎
‎Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the officers involved in the operation for their dedication and professionalism.
‎
‎He also reassured residents that the command remains committed to tackling violent crimes and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
‎
‎”The Bauchi State Police Command will continue to pursue justice for victims and intensify efforts to curb violent criminal activities across the state,” the commissioner assured.
