The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over threat against members of the Accord Party.
The invitation followed the circulation of a video in which Fadahunsi told supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party if they encountered them during the electoral process in parts of the state.
The senator reportedly made the comment while addressing APC supporters during a campaign programme in Ilesa on Tuesday.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the police directed Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, in Osogbo at 11am on Wednesday, August 12.
The letter, signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in Osun State, said the invitation was to enable the senator to clarify the circumstances surrounding the remarks.
The command said the statement was considered threatening, inciting and intimidating, adding that it had been widely circulated on electronic and social media platforms.
The development comes amid heightened political activities in Osun State ahead of the governorship election, with security authorities urging political actors and their supporters to avoid inflammatory statements and maintain peace during the electoral process.
