President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Though originally scheduled for 4 p.m. in the Council Chamber, the meeting eventually kicked off around 5 p.m. after being relocated to the Conference Room of the President’s Office.
Among the governors in attendance at Thursday’s session are Prof. Babagana Zulum (Borno), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara). Several other states were represented by their deputy governors.
As of the time of this report, the agenda of the meeting remains unclear.
The gathering comes just a day after President Tinubu held an emergency closed-door meeting with the extended leadership of the Senate on Wednesday evening. Following that session, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele disclosed that “far-reaching decisions were taken” on “matters of urgent national importance.”
