Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a major setback ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg after Achraf Hakimi was ruled out for several weeks with a thigh injury.
The Morocco international picked up the injury during PSG’s dramatic 5–4 victory over Bayern Munich in Paris on Tuesday night.
Despite appearing to struggle with discomfort in his right thigh in the closing stages, Hakimi initially stayed on the pitch as Luis Enrique’s side had already used all their substitutions.
PSG confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the right-back will now undergo treatment and is expected to be sidelined for “the next few weeks.”
“The injury rules him out of the decisive second leg in Munich on 6 May, leaving a significant gap in PSG’s defensive setup,” the club said.
Hakimi had played a key role in the first leg, providing an assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the reigning European champions edged a chaotic encounter against the Bundesliga side. His absence now comes as a major blow given his importance on both ends of the pitch, offering pace and attacking width from right-back.
The 25-year-old had briefly been rested at half-time during PSG’s Ligue 1 win over Angers last weekend but returned to the starting XI against Bayern. His recent workload highlights how central he has been to Luis Enrique’s plans throughout the season.
