Quit Blame Game, Focus on Solutions – Peter Obi Chides Tinubu
By Omonu YG Nelson
The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop playing the blame game and focus on addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
Speaking on Nedu Wazobia podcast, Obi expressed disappointment with the ruling government’s specialisation in blame games, emphasising that Nigerians didn’t elect them to remind us of past mistakes ¹.
“I’m not a happy person in Nigeria because we can’t continue like this. We can’t continue to breed poverty. That’s not leadership,” Obi stated.
He stressed the need to dismantle the attractiveness of politics and church, which he believes hinders productivity. “We live in a very unproductive society… If I go from here now to my house, the only signboard you see is signboards of churches… That’s not the country.”
Obi also highlighted the importance of women in leadership, citing his experience as governor where his chief of staff, education commissioner, and planning commissioner were women. “Women are less corrupt… They have families, and they are more determined to see things work.”
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has also joined Obi in calling for President Tinubu to halt the policy blame game and engage in meaningful action, guaranteeing safety for workers and trade unions.
