Ramadan: Muslim Women Support 4,000 Vulnerable People in Sokoto

A group of Muslim women under the Al-Khidmal Khairiyya Foundation in Sokoto supported over 4,000 vulnerable people with food and cash for Ramadan.

The beneficiaries included orphaned mothers, IDPs, and other vulnerable individuals across Sokoto.

Inaugurating the exercise on Sunday, Mansur Ibrahim, chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees, called the gesture a practical step addressing societal challenges.

He urged beneficiaries to use support wisely and to extend help to others within their communities.

“I want to encourage all of you to give out the little you have to others, particularly during Ramadan,” Mr Ibrahim said.

He added that such acts of generosity provide endowment, wealth, and security, while also attracting rewards in the hereafter.

Ibrahim commended the foundation’s sustained commitment to the less privileged and encouraged wealthy individuals to emulate the initiative in today’s economic climate.

Lawal Maidoki, chairman of the Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment Agency, said the intervention reflected Islam’s principle of supporting those truly in need. According to him, the charitable acts bring donors closer to God.

Mr Maidoki also praised the state government and local philanthropists for their continued support of the needy during Ramadan.

The religious affairs commissioner, Jabir Mai-Hula, restated the importance of assisting vulnerable groups and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the less privileged.

Ali Musa, the chairman of Sokoto State Pilgrim Welfare Agency, donated N400,000 and ten bags of rice for distribution on behalf of his family.

Sadiya Umar and Muhammad Abdullahi highlighted the spiritual and social significance of feeding the needy during Ramadan.

Amina Yusuf, Amira of the foundation, said the outreach was part of the group’s ongoing commitment to alleviating hardship in society.
